Inspired by Moonshocka

I think it's safe to say Moonshocka's birthday wishes has added him to my list of personal heroes.

Zip line?? Metal detector??

The kid's a genius.

And this got me to thinking...a zip line is something I could really use in my own life.

Examples:
  • After "the incident" on Saturday I would've simply zip lined to Mexico, never to be heard from again (avoidance is the healthiest way to deal with all of life's challenges)
  • A creeper at work has some suggestions for my personal life, a comment about my appearance/weight, or just a straight up gem to share with me...zip line! Boom. See ya never weirdo.
  • Sitting around the apartment dying of hunger but too lazy to get my butt across the street to pick up some food staples avocados and cheese from Star Market...zip line on over from the roof deck! Food shopping just became fun.

The possibilities are endless.

Despite the fact that I have an intense fear of heights (I can't even lean over the banister at the mall - you're looking at a well adjusted adult right here) and I envision zip lining going a lot like below my plan is basically fool proof.

Please imagine a more panicked voice and bargaining to get an accurate image of me zip lining.

Moral of the story: everyone should follow Moonshocka's lead and put a zip line on your next wish list because it never hurts to ask!

Birthday Wishes

This work week has been a complete bugger and its only Tuesday.  No worries though, because I've got big plans this weekend.  You see my cousin, Moonshocka (nickname coined by his mother, for absolutely no other reason beyond it sounding awesome), is having a monster Bday Bash.

A few things you need to know about Moonshocka...
He can bench press a semi truck
He's probably killed a guy
He's got a lot of freckles
He likes his cheeseburgers w/o the cheese
and he's turning 8 years old

Yesterday I received an email from my Aunt that contained some gift ideas that Moon himself has asked for.  Her opening line gave me a chuckle so I've included that along with Moon's list.

"Moon's birthday list is quite extensive this year.  Most of it unattainable at any age if you ask me."
-Anything Playmobile (Practical gift, proving to his mom that he's taking this list seriously)
-Animal Warrior Guys (Classic moon.  Combination of his love of the outdoors and violence)
-A Zip Line (For quick escapes off the back deck)
-A Bike Muffler ( ? ? ? ? ?)
-Hot wheels ramps that attach to the roof and to the side of the tub (for launching hot wheels, obviously)
-Kayak along with a fishing vest (Old man at heart)
-Metal Detector (So he can get rich)

Happy Tuesday!

The Culprit

It's true. I am the culprit. The red dragon slayer.

This is the face of shame and self-loathing.

We might want to think about cleaning the mirror...

Will it ever be ok to smile again?

The day my life changed for the worse

Meesh has finally established herself as Club Belmont's very own Lindsay Lohan.  I dont think I'm out of line calling Meesh crazed and out of control after what she has done to my innocent and once beautiful vehicle.
Artist Rendition of Meesh paying for her actions
I apologize if my thoughts are not written as coherently as they have been in the past but I am writing through a lot of emotions right now.  You see, I dont know how else to cope with the feelings I am going through than to explain the chain of events that have occurred today.
There I was minding my own business having a productive little Saturday when suspect #1 stormed into the apartment.
McQ: "Hey Meesh! Good to see ya, whats going on? Hows your Saturday?  Tell me all about it, I really want to know because I'm a great roommate!"
Meesh: "Well, something bad just happened."
McQ: (Concerned) "What do you mean? Are you alright?"
Meesh: "I'll, pay for it I swear!"
McQ: "Meesh, what did you do?"
Meesh: "I kind of hit your car while trying to parallel park in a space the size of the Super Dome."
McQ: (crying) "What do you mean you kind of hit the Dragon?"
Meesh: "I mean I ruined your car, but atleast I told you!"

I'm in a weird place right now.  I dont know if I should press charges, or if I should go outside and buff the scratch off my bumper.

Thanks to ClubBelmont for the opportunity to run my side of the story before the press gets a chance to stretch the truth.

Cheers

Glad to see Meesh decided to branch out with some very rare yet creative drink recipes...
Unlike Meesh I dont plan my alcoholism out days in advance and dont have time to chill my Rose' before I whack it back.
If you're like me you've spent the majority of your day staring at spreadsheets and listening to mind blowing stories about how windy it is outside.  Oh and did I mention that I work in an office building that goes through more temperature swings than a menopausal woman?  No joke, my thermostat reads 80 degrees and I'm wearing a crew neck sweater.  Worst part about it is I cant take my sweater off because I'm well beyond the point of no return as far as pit sweat is concerned.
What I'm trying to say is I'm thirsty.  I'm thirsty for an ice cold no nonsense adult beverage.
I give you Name Tag Lager.
Once you pop the fun dont stop... #AMIRIGHT?
Name Tag Lager is an ice cold lager that can be found at your local Trader Joe's for the low low price of $3 and change. Personally I do not enjoy the hints of tin and body odor aftertaste but like Levar Burton said dont take my word for it!
Cheers,
McQ

Ain't Nobody Got Time for That

Listen Meesh, I like a nice cocktail as much as the next guy/gal. But I am a man. And when I get home from working hard all day, I am not going to feel like doing a lot of prep work in order to get my drink on.

Problem solved:

Bless you Adam Carolla.

Thirsty Thursday

Hiya kids!

We've almost made it to the weekend and you know what that means...it's finally Thirsty Thursday! (Today is actually a Friday for Elise the Beast and I because we know how to beat the system muahaha.)

My evening's going to look a lot like this with the addition of tortilla chips and plastic cheese at the Bruins game. Go Bs!!

But for those of you who'd like a bit of a classier evening at home on your Thirsty Thursday I have two of my favorite cocktail recipes for you to enjoy with your roommates and possibly a Castle/Law & Order: SVU/The Office/Big Bang Theory/whateverhas4+episodesairinginonenight marathon.

Red Sangria

Ingredients
1 Bottle of red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Rioja reds, Zinfandel, Shiraz)
1 Lemon cut into wedges
1 Orange cut into wedges
2 Tbsp sugar
1 Shot brandy
2 Cups ginger ale or club soda

Preparation
Pour wine in the pitcher and squeeze the juice wedges from the lemon and orange into the wine. Toss in the fruit wedges (leaving out seeds if possible) and add sugar and brandy. Chill overnight. Add ginger ale or club soda just before serving.
If you'd like to serve right away, use chilled red wine and serve over lots of ice.

Or...if you're too tired from a long work week, just skip all the above steps and pour the wine straight into your glass. Both effective and highly enjoyable.

Gin & Tonic

Ingredients
2 oz gin
5 oz tonic water
1 lime wedge

Preparation
Pour both ingredients into a short glass over ice. Stir and garnish with a lime wedge.

Simple? Yes. Delicious? Obviously.
